What are the Parks hours?

Park hours are from 8:00 am to dark, except in campgrounds & areas where special permit has been granted.

Can I bring my dog or cat in the parks?

Pets are welcome at the Parks, and those pets are permitted in all public picnic areas and outdoor shelter houses. We do ask that they are on a leash at all times and not be left unattended.

We allow certified service pets everywhere within the Parks.

Do the campgrounds have water and electric?

White Star Campground has both water and electric at each site. Wolf Creek Campground is a primitive campground with no water or electric available.

Can I fish at the Parks?

·         Fishing is available at White Star Park, Creek Bend Farm, Don W. Miller Memorial Park, Mull Covered Bridge, and Wolf Creek Park. All Ohio fishing rules and regulations apply.

Can I hunt at the Parks?

·         Hunting is allowed in designated areas of White Star Park and Ringneck Ridge Wildlife Area.

·         A Sandusky County Park District permit is required. The permit is free and can be done online. A copy will be emailed and can be kept on your mobile phone.

·         All Ohio and Sandusky County Park District hunting rules and regulations apply.

·         Hunters are asked to complete an online survey following each hunt. 

·         Hunting season is September 1st until the last day in February.

Can I smoke in the Parks?

The Parks are smoke-free, as we do not permit smoking on park property. Including no smoking or vaping in the beach area. You are permitted to smoke inside your personal vehicle, as it is your private property.

Can I use a metal detector?

Metal detecting is permitted on all Sandusky County Park District properties that are open to the public except White Star Beach. Metal detecting is prohibited on the beach. We ask that you respect the area you are detecting in and to leave the area how you found it.

Can you canoe, kayak or paddleboard?

·         Boat Launches are available at Wolf Creek Park and White Star Park.

·         The Wolf Creek Launch allows for access to the Sandusky River which is designated a State Scenic River.  Access is open April 1 through November 15.

·         White Star Park Quarry launch allows canoes, kayaks and non-gas-powered boats.

·         PADDLE BOARDS ARE PROHIBITED.

Beach FAQ

What are the Hours of the beach?

The beach is open Memorial Day to Labor Day. First two weeks and last two weeks are Saturday/Sunday only. Then the beach is open Daily 12pm (noon) to 8pm.

What is the cost to get into the beach?

          The cost is $8 for adults, $5 3 years to 12 years and 2 and under is free.

*No Refunds for closures or because of weather.

Do you accept cash or cards?

Yes, both cash and cards are accepted. The cost is $8 for adults, $5 for 3 years to 12 years and 2 and under is free. *No Refunds for closures or because of weather.

Is alcohol allowed at the beach?

          No, alcohol is prohibited in the Parks.

How do I purchase a Beach Pass?

Can I bring food or drinks?

Snacks are allowed, No coolers, glass bottles or cans. Picnic areas available outside of beach area - Grills available in the park. Concession stand is available for snacks and drinks.

Can I bring a floatie?

No floatation devices, we only allow US Coast Guard approved life vests. (some are available at the beach on first come first serve basis)

Can you snorkel in the beach area?

Snorkeling is only permitted within designated swimming area when the beach is open with paid admission.

Can you scuba dive in the beach swimming area?

Not in the swimming area. Scuba diving is permitted only in those areas designated for that purpose & are subject to all rules & regulations pertaining to that specific area.

Can I bring a tent, umbrella, chairs or sand toys?

Personal umbrellas 48" in diameter and under allowed, must be at least 2 feet behind the lifeguard chairs. Beach chairs and sand toys are allowed. No Easy-ups or Canopy style tents.

Do I need to print my camping permit?

You do not need to have a printed copy of the permit, please just have it available to be viewed when necessary.

What time is check-in and check-out?

Check in is at 2pm and check out is at 12pm (noon).

When do the campgrounds open for reservations?

Online reservations open February 1st. The campgrounds are open April 15th-November 1st. You can view White Star Campground here. Wolf Creek Campground here.

Do the campgrounds have water and electric?

White Star Campground has both water and electric at each site. Wolf Creek Campground is a primitive campground with no water or electric available.

How long can you stay at the Campgrounds?

You can stay in the same campsite for up to 7 days, 14 days is the maximum number of days allowed at all Park District properties within a 30-day period. View White Star Campground here or Wolf Creek Campground here.

Do you have firewood available?

Firewood is available at White Star Campground. Not available at Wolf Creek Campground.

How long are the White Star Campground sites?

Back-in sites are $30 per night (48 sites) are 45 feet long and 15 feet wide (50- and 30-amp service available, please check map to see amp service for site).

Pull-thru Sites are $30 per night (2) are 88 feet longs and 15 feet wide with 50-amp service. View White Star Campground.

White Star Campground Dump Station available to non-campers?

The dump station is available free of charge for our campers. Dump Station Visit can be purchased by non-campers for $10. Click the RESERVE button and select Dump Station Visit ONLY and proceed to check-out.

Can I have a tent and a camper at 1 campsite?

Sites can have up to eight (8) people per site, with two (2) tents OR one (1) camper and one (1) tent. View White Star Campground here or Wolf Creek Campground here.

What is your refund policy for Camping reservation cancellations or changes?

Modify, Change, or Move any Reservation: There is a $10 fee for any change to your camping reservation.

All Reservation Fees are non-refundable

·         There will be a $10 fee for all camping cancellations.

·         Full refund (minus applicable fees) 30 days before date of rental

·         50% refund 15 – 29 days before date of rental

·         No refund 14 days or less of rental date.

·         Can change reservation dates 15 days before day of camping reservation with a $10 fee upon availability.

·         Can change reservation site number any time before day of camping reservation with a $10 fee upon availability.

·          You may cancel your reservation online through our reservation website here. Can I bring a tree stand or ground blind?

A tree stand or ground blind on Park District public hunting areas is legal as long as it is portable and uses no nails, steps, or any other device placed or inserted into a tree. The tree stand may be installed from September 1st to the last day in February, annually and must have a tag with name, address, and phone number. If stand is not picked up, it will be confiscated and considered Park District property.

What are the rules for Deer Gun Season?

All Ohio hunting regulations apply as well as additional Sandusky County Park District hunting rules and regulations. No person shall hunt with a rimfire or centerfire pistol or rifle.

Small game, waterfowl and pheasant hunting are NOT allowed during deer gun season. This includes youth hunts and muzzleloader season. To participate in ANY deer gun season hunters MUST participate in the Deer Gun Drawing which will be held on the first Thursday in November. We will not have an in person drawing, we will draw names based off of information given from your hunting permit. You will be notified via e-mail of the results.

Sandusky County Park District hosts a wide variety of programs, activities and experiences throughout the park district and in our Nature Center. All Parks programs can be viewed online through our website here.

I’d like to schedule a field trip for my school, an in-class visit, scout group or other private group program. How do I schedule this?

·         Get your students out of the classroom and learning during a full-day field trip experience.

·         Sandusky County Park District offers exciting, quality, hands-on learning experiences for science and history. All programs meet Ohio's Learning Standards. Staff is also available to come to your classroom. All programs are FREE OF CHARGE to Sandusky County schools.

·         Scout programming is offered for both boys and girls. Programs can be developed to meet your needs and meet badge requirements.

We DO NOT have cabins to reserve.

How much do reservations cost?

We have a variety of facilities, shelters and campgrounds with a wide range of amenities and associated prices. These can be viewed on our website here under the Register & Reserve tab.

Do I pay for my reservation fees up-front?

All reservations require full payment at the time the reservation is made. We accept all credit cards online and over the phone. Cash and check are accepted but must be delivered to Administration Offices prior to the reservations being made.

Is there a waitlist for reservations?

We DO NOT offer waitlists for any of our reservable barns, shelters or campgrounds. Our website will be automatically updated as available on our online reservations if a cancellation is made. For all questions regarding reservations, please email [email protected]

White Star Campground Dump Station available to non-campers?

The dump station is available free of charge for our campers. Dump Station Visit can be purchased by non-campers for $10. Click the RESERVE button and select Dump Station Visit ONLY and proceed to check-out
