This 160-acre property, located in the northeast corner of Sandusky County on the edge of the Lake Erie marshes, is a birder's paradise. The constructed wetlands and wet woods are the perfect habitat for migrating warblers and waterfowl. Bald eagles are also a common site. Blue Heron Reserve is a part of the Lake Erie Birding Trail. A listing of 88 lesser known birding areas along Ohio’s Lake Erie Coast from Ashtabula to Toledo, the guide was created by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources: Division of Wildlife and the Ohio Sea Grant at Ohio State University. For more information or to order a guide visit the Ohio Sea Grant. This property was acquired by a donation from The Nature Conservancy and a federal Land and Water Conservation Fund Grant.
